Miss Sporty Metal Flip Collection Swatches: Aurora Borealis, Beetle Wings, and Fiery Blaze

Happy Tuesday, polishers!

I have three duochrome polishes from the Miss Sporty Metal Flip Collection to show you today! I actually won these polishes in a giveaway from the nice girl behind the Nails From Fairy Tale blog, which is pretty cool since I don’t think this brand is sold where I am in the United States!

Anyway, on to the swatches! Just a heads up, sorry about all of the random hand positions in the pictures. I wanted to try to have the light hit it my nails just right so that you can see the color shift better.

First up is Aurora Borealis, which is an icy blue color that flashes a purple/pink when the light hits it. It reminds me a lot of Orly Angel Rain, but I think that Angel Rain is a little brighter of a blue than Aurora Borealis. I needed to use three coats for this polish to be opaque, and I didn’t have any problem with the formula.

Next is Beetle Wings, which is an olive green color that shifts to gold and a little bit of pink. I had no problem with the formula, and I used two coats for the pictures below.

The third and final polish I’ll be showing you from this collection is by far the most striking, and also has the most noticeable shift. Fiery Blaze is a bronze color that shifts purple. It is incredible to look at, and probably my favorite of the three. I just love this polish, and I couldn’t seem to take my eyes off of this polish when I had it on! I used ONE coat for the pictures below (one-coat polishes will always hold a special place in my heart) and I had no problem with the formula.

So if you had to choose, which one of these three do you like best? Thanks for stopping by!

#NailArtMar Challenge: Dotticure

Hey everyone!

I can't believe that it's finally March! Hopefully the spring weather will also be coming soon...

Anyway, I decided to join Californails'  "Totally Doable I Have A Life" March Nail Art Challenge!

Today's theme is Dotticure so I decided to do a multicolored polka dot design.

I think I might have used a few too many colors in here, but I love the blues, purple, and sparkly gold polishes together!

The polishes I used were:
-a sky blue polish by California Nails
-a teal polish by Body Central
-In A Flash by L.A. Colors
-Blue Me Away! by Sally Hansen
-Strapped by Sinful Colors
-Love.Angel.Music.Baby. by OPI
-What A Pansy by China Glaze

So what do you think of the color theme I used? Will you be taking part in a March nail art challenge?

Have a great rest of the day!

Neon Flame Nails

Hey nail enthusiasts!

Sorry I haven't posted in a few days, I just started school this week and it's been so busy!!

Anyway, a few months ago I came across a tutorial video that shows you how to do a marble flame design and it looked pretty cool, so I decided to try it for you today! (You can see the really good tutorial video by midnightblue716 on how to do this mani here).

Here it is:

Pretty cool, huh? To me it looks like neon fire! :) I did a neon green and pink here, but I think I might try this design again sometime with other neon colors.

Polishes I used:
-Sinful Colors Black On Black
-China Glaze Pool Party
-China Glaze In The Lime Light

Thanks for readying, and have a great rest of the day!!

N.A.I.L. Challenge: Sea

Hey guys!

I hope you've been having a great day so far! Today I have for you  a 'Sea' themed mani for the NAIL linkup challenge. When I thought of 'Sea' somehow this is what came to my head: seaweed and Jelly fish. lol.
Here it is:

I wasn't sure which one I liked better, the Jelly fish with or without polka dots, so I decided to show you both... :)

The blue background is L.A. Colors In A Flash; the two greens used for the seaweed were Essie The More The Merrier and China Glaze In The Lime Light;  the light purple of the jelly fish is Sinful Colors Tempest; and the polka dots is L.A. Girl Hustle.

I hope you like it! ;) And by the way, I got a little bored today, so earlier I made a little blog collage that I wanted to show you!
Have a great rest of the weekend!!

Turtle Shell Nails

Well, Happy Saturday everyone!

It's finally a gorgeous day in the Chicagoland area today. 75 degrees and not a cloud in the sky :)

Anyway, today I have for you a design that has been at the top of my Nail Design Bucket List: Turtle Shell Nails! Overall, I think it turned out pretty good. Here it is:

I love the pear-green color with the coral!! For something a little different, here's a picture of it with a ring (which looks almost like a turtle shell to me):

For this mani, I started out with 2 coats of Essie The More The Merrier (the pear-green color) on all fingers except my ring finger. For the coral base color on my ring finger, I used 2 coats of Delia's Coral Cascade. Then, to get the turtle shell pattern, I used a gray color with shiny silver undertones from Sephora by OPI Holiday 2012 Mini Collection (I threw out the box which had the names on it, sorry) for the turtle shell print on the nails that had green on them, and used another glittery gold polish from Sephora by OPI Holiday 2012 Collection (Which again I don't know the name for) for the turtle shell print on the coral-colored nail. To make the turtle shell print, all I did was take a tooth pick and draw a small hexagon on the nail, and continue drawing hexagons connecting to the first hexagon. For a better turtle shell print, make sure to draw that first hexagon in a different place on each of the nails. I hope that all made sense....

That's all for today....hope you have a great rest of the weekend!!

Leopard Print Mani

Happy Sunday, everyone!

Yesterday I swatched Essie's The More the Merrier, and had said that I would do a nail design using it as a base. Since I haven't shown any leopard print on this blog yet, I thought I would do one for you today.

Here it is:

This mani started out with 2 coats of Essie The More the Merrier as the base color. The black I used for the leopard spots was Sinful Colors Black on Black, and the pink was Love & Beauty Pink/Gold. All I used to make the leopard print spots was the end of a bobby pin, so really, anyone can do this at home. All I did was use the end of a bobby ping to dab on some pink splotches, and then used the same bobby pin to add on some black splotches, lines, and dots around the pink areas. Trust me, the messier it is, the better the leopard print actually looks.

I hope you have a great rest of your weekend!
