OPI Muppets Most Wanted Collection: Kermit Me To Speak Swatches & Review

Today I have a polish from the OPI Muppets Most Wanted Collection to show you!

Kermit Me To Speak is a duochrome polish that shifts from a golden tan to a pinky purple color. I love this polish because it's different from anything I have in my polish collection, and just because I love duochromes! :)

I used two coats for the photos below. The formula was very easy to work with!

What do you think about this polish? Do you have an picks from the OPI Muppets Most Wanted Collection?

#NailArtMar Challenge: Dotticure

Hey everyone!

I can't believe that it's finally March! Hopefully the spring weather will also be coming soon...

Anyway, I decided to join Californails'  "Totally Doable I Have A Life" March Nail Art Challenge!

Today's theme is Dotticure so I decided to do a multicolored polka dot design.

I think I might have used a few too many colors in here, but I love the blues, purple, and sparkly gold polishes together!

The polishes I used were:
-a sky blue polish by California Nails
-a teal polish by Body Central
-In A Flash by L.A. Colors
-Blue Me Away! by Sally Hansen
-Strapped by Sinful Colors
-Love.Angel.Music.Baby. by OPI
-What A Pansy by China Glaze

So what do you think of the color theme I used? Will you be taking part in a March nail art challenge?

Have a great rest of the day!

China Glaze City Flourish Collection: Metro Pollen-Tin and What A Pansy Swatches & Review

Happy Monday!

I have a couple more China Glaze polishes to share with you today: Metro Pollen-Tin and What A Pansy from the China Glaze Spring 2014 City Flourish Collection! After seeing some of the promos, I wanted to get a couple more other than the polishes I'll be showing you today, but unfortunately they were fresh out of most of the polishes from this collection at Ulta.

Anyway, on to the swatches:

First up is Metro Pollen-Tin.

Metro Pollen-Tin is a very pretty marigold creme (a yellow color with a slight orange undertone). I wasn't very happy with this formula because it ended up being very thin and streaky. So in order to even everything out, and since this polish dried really quickly with a satin finish, I used a top coat over it. It's not that I minded the satin finish, it's just that I really think the top coat evened it out better and really brought out the marigold color. Shown in the pictures below is 3 coats (2 thin coats, and 1 rather thick coat).

It's really a shame that the formula wasn't so good because the color is really pretty!

To end on a better note, the next polish is What A Pansy.

What A Pansy is a beautiful purple-toned periwinkle creme. It's gorgeous! And thankfully, the formula was fine for this one! I used 2 coats for the pictures below.

The top picture is what it looks like in indirect light, and the bottom picture is in direct light. As you can see, the direct light makes the purple-tones look a little lighter.

I find it interesting how different formulas can be for polishes even in the same collection! Although I was a little disappointed with Metro Pollen-Tin, I love What A Pansy! Do you have any favorites from this collection?

Sally Hansen Triple Shine Vanity Flare Swatch & Review

Hi again! I hope you're having a great Sunday!

I just posted my monthly review post of January, so if you haven't seen it check it out here. Basically it just talks about what I posted about in January and outlines what's coming up next on the blog in February!

Today I have a swatch of a polish from the Sally Hansen Triple Shine Collection called Vanity Flare.

Vanity Flare is a purple creme polish. Although it's not the most original of purples, it's definitely a polish that I'll be reaching for to use with nail art designs and just to wear plain! It had a nice formula and went on smoothly in two coats.

And I have to say, Sally Hansen definitely didn't lie when they labeled this polish line as "Triple Shine." Vanity Flare is very shiny without a top coat, which you will see in the pictures below.

I added this picture below to show you that this polish comes with a cap on top of a cap. I thought it was kind of nifty. :)

And because Valentine's Day is just around the corner, I thought I'd add a little heart accented nail. I know they're not really Valentine's Day colors, but I thought the mint color looked pretty on top of the purple. The mint polish I used was Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet from their Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear line.

Do you have any polishes from the Triple Shine Collection? Are there any that you really liked? After seeing some pictures of some of the glitters in Triple Shine Collection, I might have to pick up a couple more! :)

Have a great rest of the day! I can't wait to watch the Super Bowl!

National Day Of...CHALLENGE: National Day Of Cupcakes (#1)

Well, Happy National Day of Cupcakes everyone!

I don't think I'll be having a cupcake today, but why not celebrate?! The first day of the National Day of...CHALLENGE is the National Day of Cupcakes, so I have a cupcake mani to show you!

I painted this cupcake mani on my little sister's nails the other day, which was actually pretty hard to do. Her hands definitely aren't full size yet, and are still really small, so I didn't have a lot of room for the cupcakes. I really wanted to add sprinkles, but I didn't have a lot of canvas room :(
And sorry for the lack of good hand positioning in the pictures...we had quite a struggle...

Anyway, here it is:

Polishes Used:
Love & Beauty Pink/Gold (pink)
Sinful Colors Tempest (purple)
Nail-Licious Holly Berry (red)
Nicole by OPI Hit The Lights (darker yellow)
Delia's Lemon Chiffon (lighter yellow

If anyone else wants to participate, that would be super awesome! Have a great rest of the day! If you have any questions about the challenge, let me know via a comment or email!

Saran Wrap Infinity Nails (Bracelet Inspired)

Hey all!

I just went shopping the other day at Charming Charlie and bought myself some cool accessories that also gave me some inspiration for nail designs. Yeah!! So the next couple of days I will be doing designs off of some of the accessories I bought.

For today, I have a bracelet that has cloudy purple beads (that's where the saran wrap fits in) and a studded infinity sign. Here's the mani I did off of it:

I did this mani using Sinful Colors Tempest, L.A. Girl Hustle, and a silver microglitter from Charlotte Russe (no name).

I hope to do a few more accessory-inspired manicures for you within the next few days!!

Thanks for reading!

Purple Roses

Hey everyone!

I'm so glad that the weekend is finally here! After seeing the lovely purple roses Jayna did on her blog The Sequined Nail, I just HAD to do my take on purple roses. You can see her purple roses on her blog here.

Anyway, here's mine:

For the mint-colored base, I used Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet, for the light purple in the roses I used Sinful Colors Tempest, for the dark purple I used L.A. Girl Hustle, and for the green leaves I used Essie The More The Merrier. I have to say, I really like these roses against the mint base color.

How I did it:
1. 2 coats of Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet
2. dab on small flower-like splotches of a light purple...to do this I used the end of a bobby pin
3. take either a toothpick or a striper nail brush (I used a toothpick for mine...I personally think that toothpicks are a little easier to control) and outline the light purple splotches with a dark purple polishes
4. take a toothpick or a striper nail brush and draw thin lines within the roses to give it more depth
5. take a either a toothpick or a striper nail brush and draw some thin lines with a green polish for the leaves of the roses.

And there you have it. If anyone wants to do a rose mani like this one with purple or another color (maybe orange or blue?) I would LOVE to see it!!

Have a great rest of the weekend!!

Zebra Print Nails

Good morning!

As promised, I am going to show you a design I made with Sinful Colors Tempest that I had swatched yesterday. I chose to do Zebra print because I really hadn't done it on the blog yet, so I gave it a try.
Here it is:

I made this design by using 2 coats of Sinful Colors Tempest as the base color. Then, I used Sinful Colors Black on Black for the stripes, using my handy dandy striper brush. By the way, sorry again for the bad lighting. This picture was done at night so I didn't have the natural light I  had wanted.

I hope you like it :)

Have a great rest of the day,

-Colleen
